The Best Moments Aren’t Planned

You don’t need to change much for me. The ranch doesn’t need to look perfect and you don’t need to know what to do in front of the camera. We’ll start with what feels familiar to you and let the session take shape from there.

I’ll give you enough direction that you never feel unsure of what to do, while leaving room for things to happen naturally. We might have an idea of where we’re headed, but some of my favourite photographs come from noticing what’s already happening and knowing when not to interrupt it.

I want the experience to feel less like you spent time posing for photographs and more like you let me into your world for a while.

A Few Things You Might Be Wondering

What types of western lifestyle sessions do you photograph?

I photograph western life in all the different ways it can show up. That includes families and couples, along with maternity or newborn sessions. I also work with western brands and document rodeos or events. If you have something else in mind, reach out and tell me about it. There’s a good chance I’ll be up for it.

Can we include our animals in our session?

Absolutely. If your animals are part of your life, I’d love for them to be part of your photographs too. I’m comfortable working around livestock and know that animals don’t always follow our plans. We’ll give them the time they need and work with whatever they give us.

Do you have locations we can choose from?

Absolutely. If you already have a place that means something to you, I’m all for making it part of your session. It could be somewhere connected to your story or simply a place where you feel at home.

If nothing comes to mind, I’m happy to help. I know some beautiful locations and can recommend somewhere based on the look you’re drawn to and what you want your photographs to feel like.

What if we’re not comfortable in front of the camera?

You’re in good company. You don’t need to know how to pose or spend the whole session wondering what to do next. I’ll give you direction when you need it, but I also want to leave room for you to settle in and be yourselves. The goal isn’t to make your life look perfect for the camera. It’s to create photographs that still feel like you when you look back on them.
